The DrayTek Vigor 166 functions as a modem by bridging a G.Fast (SOGFAST) connection directly to a connected device like a router, firewall, network appliance or PC.
Setup
Using an RJ-11 cable, connect the DSL port of the Vigor 166 to your DSL wall socket or microfilter.
If you’re using a TP-Link VX230v: Connect the WAN port of the TP-Link VX230v to the P1 or P2 LAN port of the Vigor 166 using an RJ-45 cable. The VX230v will then automatically handle internet authentication and routing.
If you’re not using a TP-Link VX230v: Connect the P1 or P2 LAN port on the Vigor 166 to your router’s Ethernet (WAN) port using an RJ-45 cable.
Internet configuration
The Vigor 166 automatically bridges the internet connection established by your router. The router you ordered through us will be preconfigured with your username and password, so you don’t need to set it up manually.

If you didn’t buy your router through us, it’s unlikely to be preconfigured for internet access and our support team won’t be able to help you. You’ll need to get in touch with the manufacturer or supplier.
