3 September 2026: O2 Business is going where no UK business network has gone before — literally. Today it launches O2 Satellite to its business customers, smashing through the limits of traditional mobile coverage to connect customers directly to satellites overhead.

This is a game-changer for the more than 526,000 rural businesses across England — one in five of the country’s total — for whom connectivity is vital . Now, tradespeople criss-crossing the countryside, field engineers, logistics crews and construction teams can stay connected no matter how remote the job site.

No signal? No problem. Employees can message their teams, pull up directions, share their location and get critical updates — all without leaving mobile dead zones behind.

Coverage that reaches further than ever

Here’s the clever part: O2 Satellite switches on automatically the moment customers step outside O2’s normal coverage area, linking compatible smartphones straight to satellites — no clunky extra hardware, no fiddly apps. The result? O2’s landmass coverage rockets from 89% to a huge 95%, giving businesses real confidence their people are covered wherever work takes them.

Everyday essentials keep working too, from text messaging and apps like WhatsApp and Messenger to maps, location sharing and weather.

It works on compatible Apple, Google and Samsung smartphones, and it’s included free with O2 Business Ultimate plans — or just £2.50/month (+VAT) for Plus customers, with no long-term commitment (30 day rolling contract)

This isn’t unproven tech — it’s already been tested under real pressure. During Derbyshire’s recent major wildfire, O2 equipped 100 satellite-enabled phones for Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service, allowing crews battling the blaze in a total coverage blackspot to stay in constant contact and share vital updates in real time.
